Locke de Santa Joana
Locke de Santa Joana is a design-led aparthotel with 370 units, set in a restored 17th-century convent just off Lisbon’s Avenida da Liberdade.

Locke de Santa Joana is set in a former 17th-century convent — now home to 370 rooms and apartments, social spaces, and a strong cultural and culinary focus. It’s the largest Locke to date and the brand’s first opening in Portugal.
The interiors blend preserved architectural features such as original azulejos, vaulted ceilings, and stone staircases — with contemporary design in soft, natural tones. Studios and suites come with fully equipped kitchens, and many include washer/dryers, yoga mats, and boutique bath products. Accommodation ranges from compact city rooms to spacious penthouses and the 75 m² Suite Santa Joana.
Other highlights include a seasonal courtyard pool, a 24/7 gym, co-working lounges, and several restaurants and bars: Santa Marta, a Mediterranean-inspired all-day restaurant with a terrace overlooking the pool; Café Castro’s, a relaxed café and co-working space; and Spiritland Lisbon, a subterranean cocktail bar with curated vinyl and DJ sets. Also on site are The Kissaten, Lisbon’s largest whisky bar, and Santa Joana, the flagship restaurant led by chef Nuno Mendes.
With 370 units, it’s much bigger than a typical boutique hotel we tend to feature here on JO&SO — think urban lifestyle hub.
