The hotel is housed in a fully-renovated building that dates back to 1926, designed to exude the grandeur of a family residence from the Roaring Twenties. Each of the 28 rooms and suites is uniquely decorated with a blend of Art Nouveau, Baroque, and Colonial styles. The rooms feature intricate mouldings, antique pieces, crystal chandeliers, and contemporary furnishings that seamlessly blend with the period details.

The hotel's Grand Beach Club sits at the mouth of the Guadiana river. It features a restaurant, bar, infinity pool, and sunbeds overlooking the sandbanks and boats floating on the river.

We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast at Vermelho. Highlights included the array of Portuguese and French pastries that were brought to your table and the perfectly cooked a-la-carte eggs. Breakfast was delicious but also beautifully arranged, featuring tableware from Vida Dura.
